The barren mountain environment of South Africa is a demanding habitat. High climatic fluctuations, droughts and occasional bush fires demand a lot from the unique flora. Only the strongest plants manage to survive there. You can taste this assertiveness in every drop of INVERROCHE GIN VERDANT. At the same time, however, the gin retains a soft, almost cheerful character, which comes not least from an infusion of sun-drenched summer blossoms.

The idea and realization of Inverroche Gin Verdant comes, like all gins of the brand Inverroche, from the pen of the South African Chraft Gin pioneer Lorna Scott, who distills it personally in her specially constructed copper distillery. In doing so, Inverroche is at the heart of a South African community project that provides a steady income for the hardworking hands that traditionally gather fynbos botanicals by hand. The base alcohol of Inverroche Gin Verdant is made from sugar cane. Its pure unadulterated taste in no way interferes with the mild aromatics of the Fynbos botanicals and even rounds out the gin with a subtle caramel note on the finish. Each batch is a limited edition. Different growing conditions in different years can minimally affect the colour and aroma of the botanicals and therefore the gin. This is because Inverroche Gin is not blended between different batches for authentic aromatics and is free from artificial flavours and colourings.

BOTANICALS

Mountain Fynbos Lead Botanicals. The fynbos of the barren mountainous region of the Cape Flores (Capensis) is characterised above all by its resilience, which is reflected in the intense aromas. Further flavours bring juniper berries from Europe and traditional spices from the Far East to the composition and unite there harmoniously with citrus notes and a breath of liquorice. The crowning glory of Inverroche Gin Verdant is a brief infusion of wild fynbos flowers.

FRAGRANCE

A soft floral scent of herbs, subtly reminiscent of chamomile, dominates the herbal characteristics of this gin. Other herbs nestle charmingly in the background of the bouquet. A gentle layer above this are the various tightly woven citrus notes.

TASTE

The base of the flavour of INVERROCHE GIN VERDANT is formed by the strong floral notes that distinguish the fynbos herbs of the mountains. These seem distantly familiar yet excitingly exotic. Another facet is brought by selected summer flowers, which depict the essence of South African sunshine in their flavour. Various yellow citrus fruits round out the breadth of flavors. The mouthfeel is soft, almost creamy.

INVERROCHE GIN VERDANT cuts a dazzling figure in this classic cocktail. The preparation of the Gimlet is simple. 4cl Inverroche Verdant Gin is mixed with 2cl fresh lime juice and the mixture is poured over ice. In this short drink, only the melted water from the ice cubes dilutes the intense mixture.
